An update on Alkane Resources

I received a question about Alkane Resources, copied below. I thought it would be useful to share my response with all Frontier Tech Investor members. We’ve seen some terrific upside to date and I believe there’s more to come. Here’s why:

I see in a recent press release that a new MD has been appointed for ASX, which currently is a wholly owned susidiary of Alkane set up to run the Dubbo project. This appointment appears to be the pre-cursor to the future demerger of ASX from Alkane. I would appreciate your thoughts on what this might mean for our Alkane investment going forward if the demerger is approved?

It’s ironic that one of the best performing gold shares I have recommended is in my technology letter rather than my gold letter. Alkane Resources had trading halted today because of an impending announcement about new gold at its Boda Prospect. The company is refocusing its efforts on gold and is examining the prospect of a separate listing for Australia Strategic Metals, which will be focused on its rare earth metals Dubbo prospect.

I don’t think a decision on a demerger is imminent and for the moment let’s enjoy the gold gains. Realistically, we should hold the rare earth metal play because the case for the sector remains a strong one considering the growth in global demand for the metals.

Many thanks,
