Something happened last week, which I think could transform the global food industry in the next decade.
To explain why I believe in this catalyst, I have to take you through two social trends that just a few years ago would have seemed inconceivable but are increasingly becoming part of genuine mainstream commentary.
The first is the idea of chimpanzees’ right to personhood and the second is to do with the recent ruling from the International Association of Athletics Federations that stated Caster Semenya, the South African female athlete, has to take testosterone suppressants if she wants to compete in the future.
Now these two social issues might not seem connected to each other and even less so to the food industry but as I will explain, they indicate an accelerating challenge to the status quo.
These challenges to the norm, birth completely new markets and new markets spell amazing opportunity.
