Saturday marked the first human space launch from Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Having stalled for years in the hands of slow-moving government agencies, the race to the stars now looks set to speed up in the hands of private enterprise.

As far-fetched as it might seem to some, space tourism and extra-terrestrial resource mining are just around the corner.

Bases on the moon, Mars and the birth of an inter-planetary economy are, in my view, inevitable.
